NG Nordic leads Europe’s recycling industry with 78% taxonomy-aligned revenue

New figures show that 78% of NG Nordic’s total turnover comes from activities classified as sustainable under the EU Taxonomy. This means that nearly four out of five euros in revenue come from activities contributing to the EU’s sustainable development objectives, placing NG Nordic at the top of Europe’s recycling industry based on publicly available EU taxonomy reporting, and significantly above most traditional industrial sectors.

The EU taxonomy is a cornerstone of the EU’s sustainable finance framework and an important market transparency tool. It helps direct investments to the economic activities most needed for the transition to a better future.

- Having 78% of our turnover aligned with the EU Taxonomy shows that our core business is directly contributing to the solutions Europe needs and supports the transition to a circular and low-emission economy, says Runa Opdal Kerr, Chief Impact Officer at NG Nordic.

NG Nordic’s strong performance is driven by core circular economy activities, including:

  • Treatment of hazardous waste, removing harmful substances from circulation and protecting ecosystems and human health
  • Collection and transport of source-segregated non-hazardous waste utilizing low-carbon vehicles
  • Material recovery and recycling from non-hazardous waste
  • Demolition and dismantling of buildings with high levels of reuse and material recovery

These activities enable greater access to recycled materials, reduce emissions and help address growing resource scarcity in Europe.

- These results reflect the work our teams do every day, treating waste safely, recovering materials and making sure resources stay in use instead of being lost, says Opdal Kerr.
