BESTSELLER marks 50 years with solid results

While the fashion industry continues to face challenging conditions, BESTSELLER has succeeded in delivering results that point toward progress in its 2024–2025 financial year. This happens in the year in which BESTSELLER celebrates its 50th anniversary.

This has been a special year for us, as we celebrate reaching a milestone none of us could have imagined when the first shop opened in 1975. Since then, BESTSELLER has been defined by the people who work here.

This year marks an important milestone for BESTSELLER. The company was founded in 1975, when Merete Bech Povlsen and Troels Holch Povlsen opened their first store in Ringkøbing, Denmark. Half a century later, what began as a single store has grown into the BESTSELLER we know today.

One shop has expanded into more than 3,100 stores worldwide. One shop assistant in Ringkøbing has become 25,000 colleagues across the world. And in 2025, BESTSELLER – named after acquiring a store in Aarhus in 1980 – celebrates its 50th anniversary as a Danish fashion company.

In the 2024–2025 financial year, BESTSELLER’s revenue grew by seven percent, reaching 38 billion DKK – the highest in the company’s history. Pre-tax profit increased by 10 percent to 5.9 billion DKK compared with the previous financial year. BESTSELLER’s total tax contribution amounts to 8.7 billion DKK.

“We are pleased that we have managed to deliver results despite the ongoing challenging conditions affecting the fashion industry. At the same time, we remain humble and fully aware that the coming years will not be easy, and we know that we must work hard. Our results are the foundation that allows us, as a company, to make a difference – for example, through our contribution to the communities we are part of,” explains Anders Holch Povlsen.

In recent years, BESTSELLER has made significant investments to build a stronger foundation for the future – from sustainability initiatives to commercial activities such as store expansion and new logistics facilities.

“We have invested ahead of the developments we anticipate, and we continue to invest strategically in key areas such as logistics, innovation, and – perhaps most importantly – people. We know that much lies ahead of us, and we are committed to taking on the responsibility that comes with our position. We are well equipped to achieve even better results and deliver on our ambitions that reach beyond our own company,” says Anders Holch Povlsen.
